The lake and the island that moves
La Rota is an island of peat and roots about 30 metres across that floats in the reed beds. Tradition links it to the Natural History of Pliny the Elder.

Alla Posta is a house for families inside the Lake Posta Fibreno Nature Reserve, between the Comino Valley and the Liri Valley. Eleven beds, a fenced garden and a local person who helps you find the village, the church and the streets of your family story.
The house
Two newly renovated, independent units: rent them together for a large family, or separately. From €120 a night for the unit, not per person.
Find your roots
Generations of emigrants left the Comino Valley and Ciociaria for Scotland, England, the United States, Canada, France and Argentina. Many of their children and grandchildren no longer have a house in the village. Alla Posta was created to welcome them.
The area
The lake is one kilometre from the house. Around it: Cicero's homeland, a waterfall in the middle of a town, medieval castles and the mountains of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park.

Where the Fibreno flows into the Liri stands the Abbey of San Domenico, founded in 1011 on the site of Cicero's family villa.
The Cascata Grande drops about 27 metres beside the Boncompagni-Viscogliosi Castle, in the historic centre.

A comfortable, well-kept apartment. The garden is beautifully looked after and perfect for enjoying the wonderful view. Luigi is friendly and thoughtful, always generous with advice and tips on places to explore. Or NOT to explore... because sometimes this place is so welcoming that you end up relaxing and chatting for hours, and laziness becomes a precious quality for going home completely reinvigorated and happy.

We stayed in August: silence, greenery, a truly quiet corner, everything well kept, a lovely garden where you can eat outdoors, with a sink, fridge and even an electric hob, barbecue, etc. The lake is a stone's throw away, and within a maximum radius of 30 km of the house you can reach all the attractions of the mountains, hikes and villages waiting to be discovered. We'll be back

The accommodation is large, in a very quiet setting. The bed is super comfortable, you really sleep well! There is a garden with benches, hammocks and loungers to relax and enjoy the view. The owner is very kind, always ready to give great advice on what to do or where to eat, and quick to solve any problems that come up (we locked ourselves out...). Nearby there are restaurants within walking distance and a fantastic Sicilian pastry shop a short way away. It is an excellent base for visiting the area, with villages (Sora, San Donato, Atina, Aprica), abbeys (Trisulti, Casamari, Cassino) and all kinds of hikes (Lake Fibreno, the Lacerno valley...): you certainly won't get bored!
